  • The overall content of the manuscript flows naturally and is presented in a logical sequence.
  • The entire document is free of errors in spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Commonly interchanged words are chosen correctly (e.g., affect vs. effect, that vs. which, etc.).
  • There is consistent use of abbreviations and writing conventions (numbers, capitalization, serial commas, words with multiple correct spellings, italicizing, etc.).
  • Figure legends, table titles, and table footnotes are uniform and data from figures and tables are accurately referenced in the text.

Scientific & Language Editing

In addition to items described for Language Editing, scientific editing will shape the manuscript to ensure the entire document tells a complete story in which the reader can readily glean the problem addressed by your research, your claim, how the data support your claim, and how your research fits into the larger context of the field, provided the content is present to do so. A custom assessment will reveal holes in logic and content, as well as critical comments on manuscript quality, organization, and experimental design.
